ABNA24 - The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia warned American citizens of potential security risks at airports, including possible attacks, airspace closures and flight disruptions.
In a security alert posted on X, the embassy claimed that Ansarullah had attacked civilian airports and critical infrastructure, causing civilian casualties and severe disruptions to air travel.
It warned that “these actions have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area.”
The embassy noted that the US State Department had ordered non-essential government employees and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia as of October 23 due to security risks.
It also said US government employees in the kingdom must obtain special authorization from the chief of mission before using any airport, following recent missile and drone attacks.
The embassy urged American citizens to remain alert to the possibility of airport attacks, airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruptions. It advised them to “exercise extreme caution” when using Saudi airports and to check flight status directly with airlines and airports before travelling.
