The Lebanese Government Prevented Iran's Ceasefire for Lebanon

A Hezbollah representative emphasized that what Iran requested was a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon, but Lebanese officials opposed it, and now they are begging here and there for a ceasefire in vain.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Hussein al-Haj Hassan, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, announced that contacts had been made with 15 countries to include Lebanon in the ceasefire, but the Lebanese government opposed this, and according to him, this very position facilitated the recent massacre by the Zionist regime.

In an interview with Al Mayadeen, he emphasized that Iran had called for a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon, but Lebanese officials refused to accept it and are now seeking it.

Al-Haj Hassan also, criticizing Beirut's political performance, stated that the Lebanese ambassador in Washington does not represent all the people of the country, and described some official government positions, including the postponement of the Prime Minister's trip to the United States, as questionable.

This Hezbollah representative, referring to Iran's continued insistence on establishing a ceasefire, assessed the behavior of Lebanese officials as negative and in line with following the United States, stating that this approach has weakened Lebanon's position and deprived it of the achievement of a ceasefire.

He added that the people of Lebanon deserve a ceasefire, but the government, instead of adopting an independent policy, is moving along the path of dependency.

Al-Haj Hassan, emphasizing the active presence of the resistance on the field and in the political arena, stated that Iran's allies never abandon one another.

He also conditioned the outcomes of negotiations on the preservation of sovereignty and dignity, identifying the main weakness as the performance of Lebanese officials, who, according to him, instead of pressuring for the realization of the people's rights, make successive concessions.

He stated that the Lebanese government's main goal is to weaken and eliminate the resistance, and that this approach aligns with Israel's demands to disarm Lebanon.

In contrast, the Lebanese government in recent days, while denying the role of others in the negotiations, has emphasized direct dialogue with the Zionist regime as the solution—a position that has been met with internal criticism, especially given that this regime has carried out extensive attacks against various areas of Lebanon, leaving heavy casualties.
