Qalibaf: After Violation of the Agreed Framework, the Ceasefire Is Meaningless

The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated that now the very "operational basis for negotiation" has been clearly and openly violated even before negotiations have begun, emphasizing that under such circumstances, a ceasefire or bilateral negotiations do not seem reasonable.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, stating that after three key violations of the agreed framework, the ceasefire and negotiations are meaningless, said, "The aggression against Lebanon, the violation of Iran's airspace, and the denial of the right to enrichment are violations of three key clauses of the agreed framework."

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, in a statement regarding the violation of three key clauses of Iran's ten-point plan (the agreed framework) before the start of negotiations, wrote, "From the very beginning, we followed the ongoing process with mistrust, and as predicted, the United States of America this time as well violated its commitments even before the negotiations began."

He added, "As the President of the United States has explicitly stated, the ten-point plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered the workable basis and foundational framework for these talks. However, so far, three clauses of this proposal have been violated:

1. Failure to adhere to the first clause of the ten-point plan regarding the Lebanon ceasefire—a commitment that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif explicitly referred to, declaring it a 'ceasefire effective immediately everywhere, including Lebanon and other regions.'

2. The entry of an aggressive drone into Iran's airspace, which was destroyed in the city of Lar in Fars Province, constituting a clear violation of the clause prohibiting any further aggression against Iran's airspace.

3. The denial of Iran's right to enrichment, which was the sixth clause of this framework."

He continued, "Now, even the 'foundational framework for negotiation' has had three of its key clauses openly and clearly violated even before negotiations have begun."

"Under such circumstances, neither a bilateral ceasefire nor negotiations make sense."
