AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Chris Murphy, a Democratic U.S. senator, posted a series of messages on his X account warning about Donald Trump's recent statements regarding the escalation of attacks against Iran, describing them as a dangerous act that violates international law.
Murphy announced that Trump is proposing plans to target Iran's critical infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, actions that, according to him, could lead to widespread civilian casualties and constitute a “war crime.”
The Democratic senator also criticized the objectives of these attacks, emphasizing that such actions will not help reopen the Strait of Hormuz but will rather complicate the situation. He noted that this waterway had been open before the attacks began and described the continuation of this approach as “illogical.”
Murphy further called on Republican leaders to intervene to prevent the continuation of this trend and to reconvene Congress to review and halt the war. He also, citing the severity of concerns, called for examining legal measures to curb the president's decisions.
He concluded by warning that the continuation of these policies could lead to an increase in human casualties and serious damage to America's international reputation.
