Parliament Speaker Mohamad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a message of condolence over the martyrdom of the head of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Majid Khademi, in the US-Israeli attacks against Iran.
In a condolence message on Monday, Ghalibaf described Khademi as a noble, ethical, and tireless commander who, after years of struggle, attained martyrdom.
The speaker emphasized, “The martyrdom of Major General Majid Khademi is a display of the humiliation of the Zionist regime and the arrogant United States, who are attempting to compensate for their failures on the battlefield through cowardly assassinations.”
He added, “Such a blind plot of the arrogant powers has always been fruitless and will be met with even harsher blows.”
Ghalibaf also extended congratulations and condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, Khademi’s family, comrades, and the Iranian people, and prayed for elevated ranks for the deceased commander.
The US and the Israeli regime launched their joint military aggression on Iran on February 28, following their previous war in June last year. Both conflicts were launched as Tehran was in the midst of diplomatic talks with Washington over its peaceful nuclear program.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was assassinated in an Israeli airstrike targeting his residence and office in Tehran on the first day of the ongoing aggression.
In response, Iran launched precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and US bases, citing its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and warned that further escalation would invite a harsher reaction.
Iran has also maintained control of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the key waterway is closed only to the aggressors and any country assisting them in the aggression.
