Preliminary Stage of Egypt Int’l Quran Memorization Contest to Kick Off Next Week

The preliminary stage exams of Egypt’s 33rd International Quran Memorization and Concepts Competition will begin on Sunday, April 5.

ABNA24 - The preliminary stage exams of Egypt’s 33rd International Quran Memorization and Concepts Competition will begin on Sunday, April 5.

The exams will be held in the offices of regional administrations throughout Egypt and will continue until April 15, the country’s Awqaf ministry announced, Misri Al-Youm reported.

After verifying the qualifications of the candidates based on the announced criteria, the ministry published the names authorized to participate in these exams.

The exams will be held in accordance with the specified criteria in the relevant offices.

Attendance at the specified times

The ministry emphasized to all administrations and participants to adhere to the instructions related to the exams and to be present at the specified times. Full compliance with the criteria ensures equal opportunities and transparency among all participants, it said.

These exams will be held in different branches, reflecting the diversity of different levels of memorization and understanding of the Quran. This event is part of the ministry of Awqaf’s efforts to encourage memorization of the Quran, understanding its meanings, and identifying outstanding and knowledgeable reciters and reciters.

First category: Memorization of the entire Holy Quran (with narrations from Hafs from Asim) along with Tajweed, interpretation, and knowledge of the causes of revelation, for non-imams, preachers, and faculty members and their assistants, with an age limit of 35 years. Another condition is not to have won any financial prizes in previous competitions.

Second category: Memorization of the entire Holy Quran (with narrations from Hafs from Asim, Warsh from Nafi’, or both) along with Tajweed, interpretation, and syntactic aspects, for imams, preachers, and faculty members and their assistants, with an age limit of 35 years. Another condition is not to have won any first place in previous competitions.

Third category for teenagers: Memorization of the entire Holy Quran (with narrations from Hafs from Asim or Warsh from Nafi’, or both) along with interpretation of sections 29 and 30 based on the book “Explanation on Selected Interpretations of the Quran”, for teenagers up to 14 years of age. Another condition is not to have won any financial prizes in previous competitions.

Fourth category: Special for the disabled; memorization of the Holy Quran (based on the narrations of Hafs from Asim or Warsh from Nafi or both) along with the interpretation of Juz 30, provided that they are younger than 25 years old.

Fifth category: Quranic families; memorization of the Holy Quran (based on the narrations of Hafs from Asim or Warsh from Nafi or both) along with understanding its meanings and grammatical aspects, provided that the number of family members who have completely memorized it is not less than three and also that this family has not previously won the first places in these competitions.

Sixth category: Quranic recitations category, with the condition of mastering seven styles of recitation, provided that the age at the time of announcement is not more than 40 years old and also that the main prize has not been won in this category before.
