Iran's seminary chief calls for unified stance from Islamic scholars in wake of US-Israeli aggression

The director of Iran's seminaries has called on influential Islamic scholars worldwide to demonstrate a more visible unity in the face of escalating US-Israeli aggression, emphasizing that the current historical moment demands a clear and decisive response from the religious leadership of the Muslim world.

ABNA24 - The director of Iran's seminaries has called on influential Islamic scholars worldwide to demonstrate a more visible unity in the face of escalating US-Israeli aggression, emphasizing that the current historical moment demands a clear and decisive response from the religious leadership of the Muslim world.

Seyyed Mofid Hosseini Kouhsari, the deputy for international affairs at Iran's seminaries, elaborated on the messages of appreciation sent by Ayatollah Alireza Arafi to influential scholars across the Islamic world who have voiced support for Iran following the aggressive attacks by the "global-arrogant United States and the Zionist regime."

'A crime of unprecedented proportions'

Hosseini Kouhsari stated that in his correspondence, Ayatollah Arafi underscored that the magnitude and depth of the recent crimes are not lost on the people of insight. The seminary chief highlighted that the deliberate targeting of a source of emulation (marja'), the leader of Shia Muslims, and the highest political authority of the Islamic Republic—alongside the killing of defenseless children and citizens and attacks on vital infrastructure—constitutes an unprecedented catastrophe.

"In this crime, all international principles and standards have been trampled upon," Ayatollah Arafi wrote, according to Hosseini Kouhsari.

'The eyes of the Muslim world are on religious scholars'

The director of the seminaries expressed that the Iranian nation and the seminary community are grieving the loss of their beloved leader and innocent sons and daughters of the land. In his messages to international figures, Ayatollah Arafi noted that the eyes of the Iranian people and Muslims worldwide are now fixed upon religious scholars across the globe.

"Through their wise positions, they must fulfill their historic role in defending the lives and status of scholars and the innocence of the children of the Islamic Ummah," Hosseini Kouhsari quoted Ayatollah Arafi as saying.

'Solidarity beyond religious and geographical boundaries'

The deputy for international affairs explained that the messages of appreciation to influential scholars—whose stances carry weight in public opinion across the Islamic world—also called upon them to amplify the voice of this oppression beyond religious, denominational, and geographical borders.

Ayatollah Arafi emphasized in his diplomatic correspondence that the attack on the dignity of religious authority and leadership represents a threat from which no religious community will remain safe. He expressed hope that through the explicit and decisive condemnation of these crimes, the unity of Islamic and religious scholars will become more apparent in this historic moment.

'A threat to all faiths'

Hosseini Kouhsari concluded by reiterating the seminary chief's warning that the assault on religious leadership is not a matter confined to one nation or denomination. Ayatollah Arafi stressed that such aggression endangers the very foundations of religious authority across all faiths, making it imperative for scholars worldwide to stand united in defense of the oppressed and against the forces of global arrogance.
