The office of Iraq’s prominent Shia cleric, Ayatollah Ali Sistani, has expressed hope that the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, will succeed in promoting national unity in Iran.
The Najaf-based office issued its message on Wednesday, three days after Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen by Iran’s Assembly of Experts as the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution to succeed his late father, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Ayatollah Sistani’s office commemorated the memory of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and expressed hope that his successor will succeed in leading the Iranian nation, thwarting the evil designs of ill-wishers, and protecting national unity and cohesion.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred on February 28 in an airstrike on his office in Tehran in the early hours of the ongoing US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.
