AhlulBayt News Agency: In the capital Tehran, people will march to the University of Tehran, Ramezan Sharif, the head of the Central Headquarters of the International Quds Day, said at a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.

He said more than 6,000 Iranian and foreign reporters, photo journalists and cameramen will cover the rallies across the country.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sharif said the Islamic Republic of Iran is the pioneer and flag-bearer of fighting the Zionist regime.

He said the initiative of the International Quds Day prevented the issue of Palestine and al-Quds from falling into oblivion.

Describing the International Quds Day as the day of Muslim unity, he said it has revealed the true colors of the Zionist regime and served as an opportunity to review the case of Palestine and highlight the bravery and steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

Sharif also referred to the ongoing US-Israeli aggression against Iran and said perhaps of the goals of this aggression is diverting the world’s attention from the Israeli regime’s crimes in Palestine.

He stressed that the Iranian nation will emerge victorious from this war and defeat the US and Zionist regime.

The International Quds Day is among the legacies of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who is revered as a spiritual leader by Muslims across the world.

Back in 1979, shortly after leading an Islamic Revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah of Iran, Imam Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan the International Quds Day.
