AhlulBayt News Agency: A seventh American service member has died in the conflict with Iran, US Central Command (Centcom) announced Sunday.
Centcom wrote on the social platform X that the service member passed away “from injuries received during Iran’s initial attacks across the Middle East on March 1. The service member was “seriously wounded at the scene” of an Iranian attack on American troops in Saudi Arabia, the command added.
Six US Army Reserve soldiers were also killed by an Iranian drone strike on a makeshift operations center in Kuwait last Sunday: Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor of White Bear Lake, Minn.; Capt. Cody Khork of Lakeland, Fla.; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens of Bellevue, Neb.; Sgt. Declan Coady of Des Moines, Iowa; Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien of Indianola, Iowa; and Chief Warrant Officer Three Robert Marzan.
The bodies of those six were brought home to the US in a dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Saturday.
The military is withholding the identity of the seventh fallen service member for 24 hours to identify their next of kin.
As the joint US-Israeli war on Iran continues into a second week, US officials have warned that American casualties will rise. President Donald Trump said the day after operations began it is “likely” that more service members will die. “Sadly, there will likely be more, before it ends. That’s the way it is,” the president noted. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also told reporters on Monday that “an effort of this scope will include casualties".
