Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has congratulated the election of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Leader of the Islamic Revolution, saying his election will strengthen national unity.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the esteemed Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and to the great Iranian nation,” Araghchi said in a statement on Monday.
“Amid Iran’s current critical situation, his election will undoubtedly ensure national sovereignty and territorial integrity while strengthening national unity,” he said.
Araghchi pledged allegiance on behalf of all Iranian diplomats, ambassadors, consuls, and ministry staff, vowing to defend the nation’s rights, advance its security and interests, and uphold the lofty goals of the Islamic Revolution.
“We will not take even a single step back,” he declared.
Iran’s Assembly of Experts announced early on Monday that its members elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was martyred in a terror attack by the US and Israeli criminal regimes on February 28, 2026.
