AhlulBaytr News Agency: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi on Friday said European countries that join US-Israeli attacks against the Islamic Republic will be “legitimate targets” for Tehran.
“If any country joins in the aggression against Iran – joins America and Israel in the aggression against Iran – definitely, they will be also legitimate targets for Iran retaliation,” Takht-Ravanchi said in an interview with France24.
Asked about some European countries that are providing logistical support to the US, Takht-Ravanchi stated Iran has “already informed the Europeans and everybody else that they should be careful not to be involved in this war of aggression against Iran,” although he did not name specific countries.
The US and Israel started a fresh round of aerial aggression on Iran in late February, some eight months after they carried out unprovoked assaults on the country.
The raids led to the martyrdom of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and more than 1,300 civilians, including women and children, as well as military commanders.Iran began to swiftly and firmly retaliate against the strikes by launching barrages of missile and drone attacks on the Israeli-occupied territories as well as on US bases in regional countries.
“We informed our friends, our neighbors, before this war of aggression started last week that if America engages in a hostile act against Iran, [then] definitely the American bases, the American assets, are legitimate targets, wherever they are in our neighborhood,” the Iranian diplomat added, answering a question over Iran's attacks on US military bases in other countries in the Persian Gulf region.
He also criticized the United States for abandoning diplomatic talks, arguing that Iran was “negotiating in good faith” in the week before the US and Israel waged a war.
