Hamas: Netanyahu’s proposed regional axis threatens Arab interests

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem criticized Netanyahu’s call for a new regional axis with Arab states, saying it disregards Arab interests and threatens regional stability. He argued that such plans serve Israeli and U.S. goals at the expense of Arab nations.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for the Hamas Movement, stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s talk of forming a new regional axis with Arab states shows clear disregard for those countries and poses a direct threat to their interests.

Qassem explained in a Sunday statement that Netanyahu’s remarks reflect a dismissive attitude toward the important role Arab nations play in the region and warned that such an alliance would endanger their strategic priorities.

He added that this proposed axis—an entity he described as foreign to the region’s identity and history—seeks, with American backing, to lead regional alliances in pursuit of its own goals, which fundamentally clash with the interests of Arab states.

Qassem further noted that these ideas stem from what he called “the weakness of Arab positions during the war on Gaza,” stressing that any regional arrangement that overlooks Palestinian rights will fail to bring stability.
