Qassem: Unified international stance needed to stop ongoing genocide in Gaza

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said Israel escalated attacks in eastern Gaza following the “Peace Council” meeting, showing disregard for international efforts. He called for a unified stance to pressure Israel to stop what he described as genocide.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said on Saturday that Israeli forces have escalated their demolition operations, destruction, and airstrikes in eastern Gaza since early morning, following the recent so-called “Peace Council” meeting.

In a press statement, Qassem argued that Israel’s actions show clear disregard for international discussions, insisting that Tel Aviv is pursuing its own agenda to continue what he described as a genocidal war.

He stressed that the so-called “Peace Council” must adopt a unified and serious position capable of exerting real pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing genocide and stop violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces—backed by the United States and several European countries—have waged a devastating war in Gaza involving mass killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and detention, while ignoring international appeals and rulings by the International Court of Justice.

Available figures indicate that more than 242,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured, the majority women and children, with over 11,000 still missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, famine has claimed many lives—mostly children—and widespread destruction has devastated most areas of the Gaza Strip.
