AhlulBayt News Agency: A New York City–based drone manufacturer supplying surveillance systems for the Gaza border has been removed from the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a city‑owned industrial complex, roughly six weeks after Mayor Zohran Mamdani assumed office, the New York Post reported.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. chose not to renew the lease of Easy Aerial, which had been operating inside the 300‑acre facility.
Councilman Lincoln Restler praised the decision, arguing that public property should not host companies producing drones that could be repurposed into tools of warfare.
Easy Aerial had been the target of repeated demonstrations, including protests organized by the “Demilitarize Brooklyn Navy Yard” campaign, which demanded the expulsion of tenants assisting “Israel.”
State Assemblyman Kalman Yeger criticized the move, claiming that removing the company would negatively impact local jobs and economic growth.
The company’s exit from the Fort Greene section of the Navy Yard is seen by critics as part of a broader policy shift at City Hall since Mamdani took office on January 1.
Former mayor Eric Adams had previously shown interest in drone technologies presented by Easy Aerial and Tel Aviv‑based Blue White Robotics during a 2022 NYC–“Israel” Chamber of Commerce event, and had reportedly considered using such systems for crime‑prevention programs.
