Tens of Thousands Pray at Al‑Aqsa Despite Harsh Israeli Restrictions

Tens of thousands of Palestinians performed the final Friday prayer of Shaaban at Al‑Aqsa despite heavy Israeli restrictions and widespread checkpoints. Israeli forces blocked access routes and settlers entered areas near the compound during the prayer.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Tens of thousands of Palestinians gathered at the Al‑Aqsa Mosque compound on the final Friday of the Islamic month of Shaaban, despite intensified Israeli security restrictions across Jerusalem.

Israeli occupation police imposed strict measures from the early morning hours, limiting access through military checkpoints surrounding the city. Metal barriers were also placed around the Old City and at the gates leading to the Mosque compound.

Police forces were deployed along the Friday Market Road, obstructing the movement of residents heading toward Al‑Aqsa. Young men were stopped and searched near Bab al‑Sahira (Herod’s Gate) as they made their way to the Mosque.

During the prayer, armed Israeli settlers entered the al‑Ghazali Square area near Bab al‑Asbat (Lions’ Gate), adjacent to the compound.

Meanwhile, bus convoys departed early from towns within the Green Line, transporting Palestinian worshippers to Jerusalem to maintain their presence at the holy site. Organizers said the mobilization aimed to reaffirm Muslims’ right to access and protect Al‑Aqsa amid ongoing Israeli and settler violations.
