U.S. Olympic skier criticize Trump policies: “We are not representatives of United States”

Two American Olympic skiers publicly criticized the Trump administration after ICE agents killed two people in Minneapolis, saying they felt uncomfortable representing the U.S. at the Games. Their remarks sparked an angry response from President Trump, who attacked skier Hunter Hess on social media.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Two American skiers competing at the Winter Olympics voiced discomfort with wearing the U.S. team jersey following the killing of two people by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis last month.

The incident sparked widespread protests across the United States, and U.S. Olympic skier Hunter Hess openly criticized the Trump administration’s policies during a press conference in Italy, saying: “Carrying the U.S. flag doesn’t mean I represent everything this country does.”

At the same event, fellow skier Chris Lillis said athletes often hesitate to express political views but added that he was “heartbroken” by what is happening in the United States.

U.S. President Donald Trump reacted angrily to the comments, writing on Truth Social that Hess was a “real loser” and arguing that if he did not feel he represented the country, “he shouldn’t have tried out for the team.” Trump added that it was difficult to support “someone like this.”
