AhlulBayt News Agency: The death toll from the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, which started on October 7, 2023, has surged to 72,027 martyrs, while 1,054 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank between October 2023 and February 2026.
According to Gaza’s health ministry on Saturday morning, the total number of the wounded also surged to 171,651 people.
In its daily report, the health ministry said that hospitals in Gaza received two civilian bodies, and 25 wounded people over the past 24 hours.
Since the ceasefire agreement took effect on October 10, 2025, at least 576 Palestinians have been killed, and 1,543 others have been injured during Israeli attacks in different areas of the coastal enclave.
For its part, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has documented the killing of 1,054 Palestinians by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including east Jerusalem, between October 7, 2023 and February 5, 2026.
During a press briefing at the UN headquarters in Geneva on Friday, OHCHR spokesman Thameen al-Kheetan said that on January 12, Israeli security forces launched a campaign in east Jerusalem, including two major operations targeting two Palestinian communities.
“In the Shuafat refugee camp, they raided dozens of homes and shops, detained at least 25 Palestinians, confiscated goods, and seized 10 private vehicles,” Kheetan explained.
“In another large-scale operation, targeting Kafr Aqab neighborhood and the boundaries of Qalandia refugee camp, Israeli security forces reportedly demolished 70 Palestinian structures. This appears to be in preparation for major settlement projects in the area,” Kheetan added.
“Since 23 January, the Israeli authorities issued eviction orders to 22 Palestinian homes in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City and in al-Bustan and Batn al Hawa areas of Silwan. This follows a series of similar notices over the past two months affecting hundreds of Palestinians who remain at risk of forced displacement in the larger area of Silwan,” the spokesman said.
“This is added to the forced displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank since last year, including during Israel’s militarized operation named ‘Iron Wall’ a year ago, which targeted three refugee camps. Over 32,000 people who were forcibly displaced from the camps of Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams are still unable to go back home. For many, their houses were destroyed by the Israeli forces,” he elaborated.
“The unlawful deportation or transfer of a population living under occupation is a war crime, and, under specific circumstances, may constitute a crime against humanity,” he underlined.
