AhlulBayt News Agency: According to the Iranian Cultural Consultation in Russia, Metropolitan Volokolamsk, the head of the Department of External Relations of the Moscow Archdiocese, in a letter to Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, head of the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations, wrote, “On behalf of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and personally on my own behalf, I thank you for the letters in which you informed us of the events in Iran.”
He added, “We understand your concern about attempts to destabilize the social situation by abusing the religious and national feelings of the people, and we share this concern with you.
“The Russian Orthodox Church has always opposed the abuse of sacred things and what is dear to humanity.”
In response to the actions taken in the attack on some mosques in Iran, he continued, “We consider attacks on holy places and their desecration, as well as attempts to undermine peace between religions, denominations and peoples, unacceptable.”
He also stressed that no intentions can justify gross political interference in the affairs of independent states, accompanied by internal conflicts and attacks on holy places and believers.
“We pray and believe that God Almighty will establish peace and order, give understanding to the lost, and comfort the suffering. I am confident that the religious leaders of our communities will play their necessary role in this matter.”
Earlier, in a letter addressed to prominent figures of divine religions in January 2026, the ICRO chief had called for an explanation and enlightenment regarding the American-Zionist nature of the recent events in Iran for the followers of religions and peoples of the world.
