IRGC condemns EU designation as hostile and illegitimate

The IRGC condemned the EU’s decision to label it a terrorist organization, calling the move illegal and politically motivated. The force said such actions will only strengthen Iran’s internal unity and criticized Europe for ignoring Israeli crimes while supporting terrorist groups.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) stated that the European Union’s decision to add the force to its so‑called terrorist list reflects the bloc’s alignment with the interventionist policies of the United States.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the IRGC denounced the EU’s move as “hostile, baseless, and absurd,” while expressing gratitude for the widespread support, solidarity, and wise stance of the Iranian nation.

The statement followed the EU’s designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization, a step Iran has condemned as unlawful and irresponsible.

According to the IRGC, the EU’s designation lacks any legal or political legitimacy and contradicts the principles and logic of international relations.

The statement added that such actions will not weaken the IRGC’s resolve or mission but will instead reinforce internal unity and strengthen national determination to protect Iran’s interests and security.

It further stressed that the EU’s approach ignores the destabilizing actions of those fueling regional crises, particularly the “brutal and terrorist” Israeli regime.

The IRGC emphasized that these measures will not contribute to regional peace or stability and will only hinder constructive engagement and cooperation.

The statement noted that IRGC forces have consistently defended Iran’s independence, security, and territorial integrity over the past decades while serving the Iranian people.

It added that some European countries have become safe havens for various terrorist groups—including the MKO, Daesh, and separatist movements—providing them with military, media, and logistical support.

The IRGC said global public opinion expects European states to abandon such double standards and to clearly and decisively condemn the horrific crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza, including the destruction of vital infrastructure, the killing of over 70,000 people, and the injuring of around 170,000 children, women, and civilians.

The elite force reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its core missions to defend the nation and safeguard the security, peace, and dignity of the Iranian people.

The statement concluded that the EU’s designation came in response to Iran’s actions against rioters who caused widespread destruction at the urging of a monarchist figure and the public incitement of U.S. and Israeli leaders, at a time when Washington had intensified its threats and military presence in the region.
