AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli daily Haaretz reported on Tuesday that a conscript had taken his own life inside a military base located in the southern part of the occupied territories.
The newspaper stated that the incident occurred on Monday at one of the army’s bases, without revealing the soldier’s identity or providing details about the circumstances surrounding the death.
Haaretz added that the military police of the occupation army have launched a formal investigation, and the findings will be submitted to the military prosecution.
According to figures cited by the newspaper, 22 conscripts died by suicide in 2025—marking the highest number recorded in nearly 15 years.
Israeli media reports have attributed this increase to the psychological strain caused by the prolonged war on the Gaza Strip and its deep impact on soldiers involved in combat.
Israeli mental health experts say a considerable number of soldiers are experiencing severe psychological disorders after participating in military operations in the besieged Gaza Strip.
