Senior Lebanese Scholar: Beirut Stands with Iran and the Resistance Front

At a solidarity gathering in Beirut, Sheikh Hanina praised Iran’s support for oppressed nations and criticized U.S. policies. He urged Lebanon’s president to back the Resistance to prevent regional partition plans allegedly driven by Israel.

AhlulBayt News Agency: During a solidarity event in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran—organized by Lebanese national parties, movements, public figures, the Gathering of Muslim Scholars, and the Coalition of Independent Forces for Lebanon—at Qaryat al‑Saha in Beirut, Sheikh Hanina praised Iran’s role and stated:

“Iran will always remain the center of freedom and dignity, and the defender of oppressed nations, just as it has supported Gaza, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.”

He sharply criticized U.S. policies, saying: “Although the United States has secured certain gains in some regions, the arrogant and insulting remarks of its president toward European allies expose the true nature of these policies. Yet when the U.S. approached Iran’s borders, it was forced to halt—powerless and unable to advance.”

Highlighting Beirut’s historic commitment to the Palestinian cause, he said: “Beirut has never withdrawn from this struggle at any stage. The resistance movement—with all its ethnic, nationalist, leftist, and Islamic components—has remained firmly rooted here.”

He continued: “Today, Beirut stands aligned with the stance of the Iranian people, their leadership, and their government—a government that represents humanity, not a faction or an individual, but the oppressed worldwide.”

Addressing Lebanon’s President, General Joseph Aoun, Sheikh Hanina said: “If the president intends to remain loyal to his military oath—and later his presidential oath—to protect Lebanon’s 10,452 square kilometers, he must support the resistance stance. Israel seeks to divide the region, and neither Arab states nor Turkey are capable of confronting this project.”

He emphasized: “The only true barrier preventing the partition of Syria and Lebanon is the Resistance and its weapons. Israel aims to fragment Syria into small states, and this plan has long been prepared—even envisioning sea access for one of these mini‑states through the Damour coastline.”

In closing, Sheikh Hanina warned: “The President of Lebanon is aware of these facts and must remain alert. He will either uphold his oath, honor, and military duty, or the Resistance will respond differently to such an approach.”

The gathering was attended by numerous scholars, political and national figures, and media activists, all affirming solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressing the importance of strengthening the Resistance Front against hegemonic and partition‑driven schemes in the region.
