Two young Saudi Shia from Al-Hasa, East of Saudi Arabia, were detained on Monday and Tuesday for taking part in religious activities on last August during Celebrating Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance.

Two young Saudi Shia from Al-Hasa, East  of Saudi Arabia, were detained on Monday and Tuesday for taking part in religious activities on last August during Celebrating Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance.

Sources informed that Abdulmohsen Nasser Al-Shaikh (27 years, works in public sector) and Qasem Ali Al-Hasawi (18 years, student) were arrested.

Both young men were arrested when responded to summons from Saudi Intelligence Administration and were charged for taking part in religious activities on last August during Celebrating Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance.

Authorities security forces stormed into one of the biggest Shia festival in Al-Hasa in a village called Bani Maan and ordered the custodians of the festival to take apart all sorts of celebration fixtures intended for Celebrating Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance.

Detainees were sentenced a period of one week based on orders from Al-Hasa governor Bader Bin Jalawi.

Both young men were sent to jail like tens of other Shia citizens.

Al-Hasa is facing sectarian harassment and arbitrary detentions against Shia citizens for the past five years where tens of mosques, worship houses and religious schools were closed amid a silent official media human rights committees.
