Zman Yisrael warns: Israel can't escape Gaza war accountability

Israeli journalist Ksenia Svetlova warned that the Gaza war’s aftermath will haunt Israel, with global scrutiny rising once the fighting ends. She predicted massive destruction, humanitarian collapse, and moral accountability the world won't ignore. The article suggests Israeli leaders fear the consequences of war exposure.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A Hebrew-language outlet has issued a stark warning to Israeli leaders, asserting that the regime’s actions in Gaza will inevitably lead to consequences.

The article, authored by Ksenia Svetlova and published on Zman Yisrael, stated that Israel will not escape accountability for the devastation it has caused in Gaza. “After the war ends, no matter how hard we try to hide what has been done, these deeds will catch up with us, and the world will no longer remain silent,” she wrote.

Svetlova added, “The real criticism will only begin after the war concludes. Once again, extremist ministers are undermining ceasefire efforts and the return of captives, while anonymous military voices insist ‘now is not the time to stop the war.’ We’ve seen this before—it’s happening again.”

She referred to ongoing distressing reports from Gaza, including severe food shortages, Israeli gunfire targeting crowds seeking aid, and reluctant army admissions of civilian casualties—while simultaneously claiming they’ve ‘learned from experience.’

According to the article, “Criticism of Israel is mounting, but the full scale of the destruction will emerge only when foreign reporters enter Gaza.” Svetlova predicted scenes of total devastation, makeshift refugee camps, widespread injury and disability, orphans amid rubble, outbreaks of deadly disease, and a broken society.

She warned that Gaza will serve as an enduring testament to Israel’s actions, and justifying these outcomes will be nearly impossible. She suggested policymakers may be prolonging the war precisely to delay that moment of global exposure.

The piece concludes that Israel, due to the widespread destruction and impact on civilians, will find itself unable to completely disengage from Gaza and will remain entangled there for the foreseeable future.
