BRICS condemns Israeli, US military strikes on Iran

At the 17th BRICS Summit, member states condemned Israeli and US attacks on Iran as violations of international law. They also called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and criticized US trade measures. Leaders from Brazil, India, Russia, China, and others discussed cooperation across political, economic, and humanitarian sectors.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The BRICS bloc has condemned military strikes carried out by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran, issuing a statement during its summit in Brazil on Sunday.

In the declaration released at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the group stated, “We condemn the military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran since June 13, 2025 (23 Khordad 1404), which violate international law.”

The BRICS members also called for an “immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip.

Commenting on recent trade policies, the statement expressed “serious concern about unilateral tariffs and non-tariff measures” imposed by the United States, saying they disrupt global trade and contradict World Trade Organization regulations.

The summit, themed “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance,” is being held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6–7.

Delegates are reviewing progress in three key areas: politics and security, economics and finance, and culture and humanitarian engagement.

Attending the summit are Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. China is represented by Premier Li Qiang, Russia by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and President Vladimir Putin is participating via videoconference.
