AhlulBayt News Agency: Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Shafqat Hussain Shirazi, Head of International Affairs at the Pakistan Muslim Unity Council, has strongly condemned recent remarks by the President of the United States targeting Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
In a public letter addressed to scholars, and religious preachers across the Islamic world, Shirazi described the U.S. president’s statements as a direct attack on the institution of Marja’iyyat (religious authority) and the principle of Islamic leadership.
In his message, Shirazi warned that silence in the face of such insults constitutes betrayal, emphasizing that defending the dignity and authority of the Supreme Leader is a religious obligation and a universal moral duty for all Muslims.
“This is not merely an insult against a single individual, but an assault on the very institution that provides religious, intellectual, and ethical guidance to the Islamic Ummah,” Shirazi wrote.
He characterized the Western campaign against the religious leadership as part of a broader "satanic and malicious agenda" driven by global arrogance and oppression. According to Shirazi, the position of Wilayah (guardianship) is a symbol of resistance, justice, and insight, and a source of hope for the oppressed in regions such as Palestine, Yemen, and Lebanon.
Drawing a connection between the contemporary leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei and the enduring legacies of Ghadir and Ashura, Shirazi underscored that the Supreme Leader embodies the historical resistance of the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT) against injustice.
He also noted the unified stance of senior religious authorities in Najaf and Qom, who have widely condemned the hostile rhetoric directed at Iran’s leadership. “The seminaries’ elders have made it clear that such acts are attacks against Islam itself, and that defending religious leadership is both a duty and an honor,” he added.
Shirazi urged clerics and preachers to speak out against these provocations in mosques, public gatherings, and sermons, and to educate the public on the role of Marja’iyyat in protecting the identity and dignity of the Islamic Ummah.
“In times like these, silence is complicity. Defending our religious authorities is a sacred obligation that history will not forget,” he concluded.
The statement comes amid widespread outrage across the Muslim world in response to the U.S. president’s remarks. Religious leaders and political figures from various countries have issued strong condemnations, warning of the dangerous implications of such inflammatory rhetoric.
