UN envoy Grundberg arrives in Aden to revive Yemen peace talks

UN envoy Hans Grundberg arrived in Aden to restart Yemen’s stalled peace process. He called for urgent action by Yemeni parties amid regional tensions and economic collapse.

AhlulBayt News Agency: UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg arrived late Monday night in the southern port city of Aden, continuing his diplomatic mission to revive Yemen’s stalled peace process. In a post on X, Grundberg said he had traveled from Amman, Jordan, and expressed optimism about engaging in meaningful dialogue with Yemeni stakeholders.

Speaking to reporters at Aden Airport, Grundberg acknowledged that his visit comes amid a worsening regional climate, which has made efforts to secure a just and lasting peace more difficult. However, he noted that Yemen is currently experiencing a period of “relative calm,” which he described as a promising opportunity to push forward on economic and security solutions.

Grundberg emphasized the urgent need for all Yemeni factions to take decisive steps to break the political deadlock and move toward a comprehensive settlement. His visit is part of a broader UN-led initiative to bring conflicting parties back to the negotiating table.

This renewed push for peace comes as Yemen faces mounting regional tensions and a deepening economic crisis, including a sharp currency collapse in Aden. Grundberg’s mission aims to stabilize the situation and prevent a return to full-scale conflict.
