Massive protests in Tel Aviv demand hostage deal and end to war

Thousands protested in Tel Aviv against Prime Minister Netanyahu, calling for a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding an end to the war in Gaza and a prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas. Security forces detained seven protesters during the rally.

Protesters accused Netanyahu of avoiding trial and called on him to resign, citing his failure during the October 7, 2023 events.

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, 2025, following the surprise “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation by Palestinian forces, the Israeli military has suffered significant losses, both materially and psychologically.

In the early days of the conflict, over 1,200 Israelis were killed and hundreds captured by Palestinian fighters—marking an unprecedented blow to Israel’s intelligence and security establishment.

Subsequent ground operations by Israeli forces to rescue captives were met with fierce resistance. Palestinian fighters used tunnel networks, ambushes, and explosives to inflict heavy casualties on Israeli troops.

More than 18 months into the war, Israeli sources acknowledge hundreds of military deaths, though unofficial figures suggest the toll is much higher.

Palestinian resistance groups have also destroyed or captured dozens of Israeli Merkava tanks, armored vehicles, drones, and surveillance systems.

Military analysts now argue that Palestinian resistance has shifted the dynamics of the conflict, trapping Israeli forces in a prolonged and costly war of attrition with no clear path to victory.
