AhlulBayt News Agency: A new report by the Center for Political and Development Studies has revealed the devastating toll of Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, focusing on the suffering and resilience of Palestinian women amid systematic violence and humanitarian collapse.
The report states that women and children make up around 70% of the casualties in Gaza. Since October seventh, 2023, over 10,000 women have been killed—including 6,000 mothers—leaving more than 19,000 children orphaned, according to UN Women.
Beyond the immediate violence, the study highlights how Palestinian women are taking on new roles as sole providers, often in overcrowded shelters with limited resources. Many are forced to perform physically demanding tasks like gathering firewood and baking bread in unsanitary conditions.
The report also warns of worsening health and psychological crises. Women are giving birth without medical care, and over 690,000 women and girls lack access to basic hygiene products. Violence and insecurity in shelters have further traumatized many.
Looking ahead, the report outlines post-war challenges such as rising unemployment among women, weakened support systems, disrupted education for girls, and the sidelining of women’s rights during reconstruction.
The study calls for an immediate end to the aggression, deployment of female-led medical teams, and mobile clinics to provide trauma care and health services.
It urges international actors to ensure women’s inclusion in Gaza’s rebuilding and to hold Israel accountable for crimes against women through the International Criminal Court.
Crucially, the report emphasizes that Palestinian women are not just victims—they are symbols of resilience, dignity, and future leadership. It calls for a gender-sensitive humanitarian response that places women at the center of Gaza’s recovery.
