AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Republic of Iran's Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education has stated that Iran ranks among the top three countries in the region in the field of food health.
Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi outlined key achievements and statistics regarding food health in Iran. He emphasized that maternal mortality in the country stands at approximately 22 per 100,000 pregnant women, highlighting the significant progress made to improve healthcare in this area.
Zafarqandi stressed the importance of ensuring proper nutrition, stating that secure food supply is not only about availability but also about fulfilling the required calorie intake, particularly for children. He pointed out that a balanced diet must include essential components such as sugar, fat, protein, and vitamins to support overall health.
Referring to the responsibilities of the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Administration, Zafarqandi noted that food security, in terms of food health, is crucial. He revealed that 700 professionals within the ministry and 450 laboratories are actively working in this field, overseeing 17,000 food production factories and companies to maintain high health standards.
