AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Palestinian resistance official, Asa'd Abu Sharia, has been assassinated alongside around 30 others in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, as part of Tel Aviv’s ongoing war of genocide.
Various resistance media outlets reported the assassination on Saturday, identifying Abu Sharia as the secretary-general and co-founder of the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement.
The movement confirmed the assassination, stating that Abu Sharia also led its military wing, the Mujahideen Brigades. Another victim of the attack was Ahmed Abu Sharia, a high-ranking member of the group and Asa’d’s brother.
The movement described Abu Sharia as a “great leader and intellectual”, noting that he had survived at least five previous assassination attempts before his martyrdom.
Abu Sharia was one of the pillars of jihad and resistance in Palestine, playing a key role in the Islamic movement.
According to the Mujahideen Movement, Abu Sharia had directed or participated in numerous resistance operations across Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and other Palestinian territories since the group’s foundation in 2001.
Most notably, Abu Sharia contributed to Operation al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, which saw fighters penetrate deep into occupied territories, encircle Israeli military bases, and capture hundreds of Zionists.
The movement stated that Abu Sharia’s leadership inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces.
Despite losing 155 members of his extended family in Israeli attacks on Gaza, Abu Sharia remained committed to the resistance struggle.
The Mujahideen Movement vowed to retaliate, stating that Abu Sharia’s principles remain a covenant upon the fighters.
Hamas also expressed condolences to the Palestinian people, the Muslim world, and all free-thinking individuals, honoring Abu Sharia’s steadfast commitment to resistance.
Hamas asserted that such assassinations will not weaken the resistance, but will instead strengthen the Palestinian nation’s resolve to fight for liberation.
