US approves $325 million sustainment support deal for Kuwait’s M1A2 Abrams tanks

The US State Department approved a $325 million sale of tank sustainment equipment to Kuwait, extending a previous 2022 arms deal. General Dynamics will be the principal contractor, supplying ammunition and maintenance support.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The US State Department has approved a potential $325 million sale of equipment and sustainment services for M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks to Kuwait, according to a Pentagon announcement on Wednesday.

The primary contractor for the sale is General Dynamics, the Pentagon confirmed in a statement.

This deal extends a previous agreement signed in September 2022, which supplied Kuwait with ammunition and spare parts for the M1A2 Abrams tanks, valued at $250 million.

The US Department of Defense stated that the new agreement aims to strengthen Kuwait’s defense partnership with the US, reinforcing regional stability and enhancing Kuwait’s ability to address security challenges and protect critical infrastructure.
