AhlulBayt News Agency: A total of 199 gates have been activated to enhance the movement of pilgrims at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina during the Hajj season.
As millions of pilgrims prepare to gather at the holy sites, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has introduced a comprehensive plan to ensure a safe and spiritually enriching experience for worshippers.
The authority has outlined a series of improvements across both mosques, aiming to meet the highest standards of organization, accessibility, and hospitality.
Preparations include 13 designated prayer areas for people with disabilities, ensuring equal access to worship. To facilitate movement, 22 elevators and 224 escalators have been activated.
Recognizing the linguistic diversity of pilgrims, religious and educational materials will be available in 27 languages to help international visitors engage more deeply with the spiritual experience.
To improve crowd management, 199 gates have been activated, allowing for smoother entry and exit at peak times.
To combat the desert heat, over 883 air conditioning units, 244 mist fans, and 3,139 ventilation fans have been installed throughout the holy sites. Additionally, 432 fragrance diffusers will enhance the atmosphere with calming scents.
Mobility support has been strengthened with the deployment of 400 electric carts, assisting elderly and physically limited pilgrims in completing their rites.
For safety, 1,229 emergency response tools have been strategically placed in high-traffic areas, and a high-quality audio network of 8,000 speakers has been integrated to provide clear guidance and religious messages.
The mosques’ libraries continue to play a vital role in Islamic scholarship, offering access to 8,503 rare manuscripts as part of an ongoing digitization initiative.
To enhance visibility and safety, more than 120,000 lighting units have been activated across the two holy sites and their surrounding facilities.
