AhlulBayt News Agency: The Gaza Ministry of Health has condemned the attack and looting of the American field hospital in the central governorate, describing it as part of the Israeli Occupation Forces' (IOF) broader campaign to dismantle Gaza’s collapsing healthcare infrastructure.
In an official statement, the ministry reported that a group of “mercenaries” raided the hospital in the Al-Zawayda area early Friday, stealing and destroying critical medical equipment, supplies, and medicines.
“This criminal act is part of the systematic destruction of the health system in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation,” the ministry said, adding that the deliberate targeting of life-saving services is part of the ongoing genocide against the people of Gaza.
Local sources confirmed that the attackers, described as looters and rioters, operated under the backing and cover of the IOF. According to reports, Israeli forces have routinely targeted hospitals, clinics, ambulances, and healthcare workers since the beginning of the Israeli genocide on Gaza.
The American field hospital was among the last remaining operational facilities providing emergency care to civilians in central Gaza. Medical services have been devastated by bombings, fuel shortages, and a blockade preventing the entry of essential supplies.
Gaza’s health system, already on the verge of collapse, continues to deteriorate due to medical infrastructure destruction and rising casualties from Israeli attacks.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that assaults on healthcare facilities and personnel amount to war crimes under international law.
The Ministry of Health has urged the international community, humanitarian organizations, and the United Nations to intervene immediately and hold Israel accountable for its ongoing violations against civilians and medical institutions.
