Al-Akhbar reports Israel’s failure to weaken Hezbollah despite ceasefire

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that Israel has failed to dismantle Hezbollah despite intense military efforts and a ceasefire in November 2024. Hezbollah’s decentralized structure, strong societal integration, and ideological resilience contributed to its survival.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar reported that despite intense conflict with Hezbollah and the declaration of a ceasefire in November 2024, Israel has failed to achieve its strategic objectives.

Israeli military officials have acknowledged that the "battle is not accomplished yet." However, dismantling Hezbollah is extremely difficult due to its structural and social resilience, making such an outcome unlikely.

According to Al-Akhbar, several factors contributed to Israel’s failure to weaken Hezbollah. The group’s decentralized and adaptable structure, its deep integration within Lebanese society, continued popular support, and ideological commitment have strengthened its resistance to psychological warfare. Leadership and military reorganization during the conflict, particularly under Naim Qasem, also played a crucial role.

The newspaper further examined Hezbollah’s regional challenges, noting that Syria’s new government is aligning with the West and Israel, posing threats to Hezbollah’s logistical routes. Additionally, Lebanon’s new administration has pressured Hezbollah by advocating the "monopoly of weapons" and conditioning foreign aid on compliance with Israeli demands. Despite these pressures, Hezbollah has maintained its social, ideological, and military presence, remaining a key force in Lebanon.
