Humanitarian crisis deepens as aid trucks remain barred from Gaza

The Gaza Media Office has accused Israel of deliberately engineering famine by restricting aid entry. More than 58 people have died from malnutrition, while 242 others have succumbed to shortages.

AhlulBayt News Agency: More than 80 days into Israel’s total blockade of Gaza, the Gaza Media Office has warned that the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Palestinian territory is a direct result of the regime’s policy of “starvation engineering.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, the office highlighted the devastating toll of the blockade, which began with the closure of Gaza’s border crossings on March 2.

At least 58 people have died directly from malnutrition, while 242 others—mostly elderly—have succumbed to shortages of food and medicine.

For the 84th consecutive day, Israeli forces have maintained a complete blockade on Gaza, shutting all border crossings and severely restricting the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and food.

While famine escalates, hundreds of thousands of tons of relief supplies have piled up and begun to spoil due to months of Israeli obstruction.

According to the statement, at least 46,200 truckloads of aid and fuel should have reached Gaza since early March to meet residents’ minimum needs. However, despite Israeli claims that aid is allowed in, only about 100 trucks—less than 1 percent of the required amount—have entered the enclave in recent days.

The media office accused Israel of deliberately controlling the flow and distribution of food, deepening the crisis for more than two million civilians in Gaza.

It also condemned the United States for complicity in Israel’s war crimes, criticizing the Trump administration for failing to take meaningful action to alleviate Palestinian suffering.

The office reiterated its call on the international community and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their moral and legal obligations and intervene immediately to rescue Gaza’s civilians from catastrophic famine.
