Medical Jurisprudence Major to be established in Baqir al-Olum University in Qom: Official

AhlulBayt News Agency: Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Ehsan Rafiei Alavi, chancellor of Baqir al-Olum University (PBUH) in Qom, delivered a speech on Thursday, May 22 , at the unveiling ceremony of the quarterly journal "Social Jurisprudence Research" of Baqir al-Olum University (PBUH),” the Late Imam Khomeini (RA) held a key position in restoring social jurisprudence in the religion of the Ahlul-Bayt (PBUT), and among his lofty visions was the establishment of Baqir al-Olum University (PBUH) to develop jurisprudence and religious education in new academic formats.”

Referring to the philosophy of establishing this university, the faculty member of Baqir al-Olum University added,” This educational center was established based on the direct opinion of the Late Imam Khomeini (RA), and its initial documents also contain clear references from him regarding its goals and vision. The Supreme Leader has also emphasized at various stages the necessity of preserving, establishing, and strengthening the position of this university in the scientific structure of Qom Seminary.”

He continued to say that one of the important approaches of this university over the past thirty years has been to play a role as the scientific and academic forerunner of Qom Seminary, and in this regard, they have had extensive interdisciplinary cooperation with scientific institutions in the country.

The chancellor of Baqir al-Olum University referred to the university's recent cooperation with the Iran University of Medical Sciences and said,” Due to the duties that the legislator has imposed on medical universities in the field of medical ethics, medical jurisprudence, and biolaw, regular scientific meetings have been held between our center and the Iran University of Medical Sciences for more than a year.”

The president of Baqir al-Olum University further noted, "Students who graduate from this field have the necessary academic degrees, but what is needed to achieve effective scientific cooperation is to strengthen the academic and scientific dialogue between the seminary and the university. We hope that this path will be successfully pursued with the support of the seminary scholars and that Baqir al-Olum University can continue to play an active role in new scientific and jurisprudential fields."
