Nigerian court sets May 23 for final verdict on remaining charges against members of Islamic Movement

An Abuja court acquitted 60 individuals of murder charges, while 24 others were freed from all remaining counts. 33 defendants were convicted on bailable offenses, with sentencing scheduled for May 23, 2025.

AhlulBayt News Agency: An Abuja court has discharged and acquitted all 60 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria who allegedly were accused of murder, the major charge among six counts brought against them.

Additionally, the court acquitted 24 men and 1 woman of the remaining five charges, granting them full freedom. These individuals have now rejoined their community.

However, the court convicted 29 men and 4 women on five other counts, which are bailable offenses. The sentencing for these 33 individuals has been reserved until Friday, May 23, 2025.

The court has officially set May 23, 2025, as the date for pronouncing sentences on the five counts against the 33 defendants
