AhlulBayt News Agency: Egyptian analysts have strongly criticized the lavish gifts, financial concessions, and investments offered to former U.S. President Donald Trump during his visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, without any demand for him to halt the war on Gaza.
Yemeni Al-Khouli, a professor at Cairo University, reacted on Friday to Trump’s trip, condemning the warm welcome and extravagant gifts presented by Arab leaders.
Al-Khouli stated: “No country in history has ever given million-dollar gifts or trillion-dollar concessions to a U.S. leader, even during World War II.”
Hani Tawfiq, an Egyptian economist, expressed strong disgust at the Arab rulers’ sycophancy toward Trump, criticizing their competition to outdo each other in welcoming him and offering investments.
He harshly condemned the lack of action to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza, stating: “What is being done is a crime for which history will hold you accountable, even before divine judgment.”
Aliya Al-Mahdi, former dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science in Egypt, also criticized Arab rulers, questioning the benefit of such financial offerings to Trump.
She argued that successful leaders rely on their people’s support, rather than external financial deals.
Former Egyptian diplomat Fawzi Al-Ashmawi criticized Arab nations for failing to leverage their power, such as cutting ties with Israel, canceling agreements, or halting investments in the U.S..
He noted that this failure contributes to the ongoing massacre in Gaza.
Kamal Habib, an Egyptian analyst, described Trump’s visit as an act of subservience, stating: “This was not merely about contracts, economic, or commercial cooperation, but a clear surrender to America.”
Habib pointed to the celebratory ceremonies, warm welcomes, expensive gifts, and media propaganda surrounding Trump’s visit, condemning the absence of any demand to stop the war on Gaza.
