His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, Muharram 17th 1437 H. – October 30th 2015. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.
In the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, talked about injustice and the need to fight it as one of the essential duties in Islam. He also maintained that not fulfilling this duty or even just supporting the oppressor might lead to Hell.
In the second sermon, the Sayyed considered that the problem in Lebanon, as the garbage crisis has shown, is not in the crises per se, for they happen in every country. Rather, the problem lies in the fact that the political leaders, who are responsible for solving the crises, cannot be held responsible if they do not perform their duties, because they are protected by their sects.
On another level, the Sayyed called on the Saudi authorities not to execute the verdict against Sheikh Nimer An-Nimr, so as not to destabilize the relation between the different sects of the country, not to mention that he did not commit any crime that deserves such a punishment.
In Syria, the Sayyed hoped that the current negotiations would help the Syrians in reaching some sort of a settlement. He also called on all the Arabs to offer any help they can, since the Syrian blood is, after all, an Arab blood. He called on them to stop following the logic of settling accounts and make every effort to end the spilling of blood in Syria.
The Sayyed ended by talking about drugs, which has always been a big problem that corrupts the youth and destroys the family and the social security, not only in Lebanon, but in the Arab world as well. The Sayyed called for acting firmly and strongly to stop drug trafficking and hunt all those who are involved in it, regardless of their positions.
