Iran’s military chief reaffirms full readiness to defend Persian Gulf

Iran has long asserted its role as a key security provider in the Persian Gulf, opposing foreign military presence in the region. The strategic Strait of Hormuz remains a focal point in regional tensions between Iran and Western forces. Tehran continues to emphasize its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and maritime security.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to safeguarding its national interests and ensuring security in the Persian Gulf. He emphasized that Iran’s military remains fully prepared for any scenario that may arise.

During a visit to Bandar Abbas, Baqeri addressed senior army commanders, stating that his trip to the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman was aimed at assessing the operational status of Iran’s military forces. He explained that the primary focus of this visit was to evaluate the readiness of both the Army’s naval units and the IRGC Navy in defending Iranian territorial and international waters.

Baqeri stressed that Iran’s armed forces are undertaking field assessments to ensure that all operational strategies are in place. He reaffirmed that Iran is in a state of heightened military preparedness, warning that no potential threat will go unanswered.

Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that the presence of foreign military forces in the Persian Gulf undermines regional stability and complicates Iran’s efforts to secure the area.

Tehran has specifically expressed concerns over US military vessels stationed in the Persian Gulf, arguing that their presence contributes to regional instability and tension.
