AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Hamas official has called on international organizations dedicated to prisoners’ rights to take immediate action regarding the systematic killings of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
According to PressTV, in a statement issued on Monday, Mahmoud Mardawi emphasized that these institutions, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), have a duty to oversee the conditions of Palestinian prisoners and implement effective measures to stop their ongoing mistreatment and torture.
Mardawi asserted that under international law, sanctions must be imposed on the Israeli regime, and those responsible for violating prisoner rights should be held accountable and prosecuted. He stressed that exposing these crimes on a global scale is essential to achieving justice.
He further condemned the targeting of detainees and prisoner rights advocates, describing it as a flagrant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which mandates severe penalties for those who commit abuses against captives.
Mardawi urged Palestinians to mobilize across all sectors to secure the release of detainees from inhumane conditions and to send a clear message to the world that the Palestinian people will not abandon their fellow countrymen.
On Saturday, Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups reported that a 60-year-old detainee, Mohyee al-Din Fahmi Najem, died in Israeli custody after facing prolonged harsh conditions and systematic medical negligence.
