AhlulBayt News Agency: Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Abdol Fattah Navab, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, described Hajj as a profound opportunity for self-discovery and deepening one’s understanding of faith.
Speaking at a farewell ceremony for the first group of Iranian Hajj pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia, Navab emphasized the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage. The event took place at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran on Monday.
He referenced Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s recent remarks to Hajj officials, stressing the importance of recognizing and appreciating the spiritual potential of Hajj. Navab cited narrations and hadiths from the infallible Imams (AS) regarding the necessity of knowledge and understanding in religious practice.
Quoting Imam Ali (AS), who stated that no action should be undertaken without proper knowledge, Navab urged pilgrims to focus on the spiritual depth of the rituals. He encouraged them to seek guidance from the clergy accompanying the Hajj convoys, who are available at all times to assist worshippers.
Navab highlighted that self-awareness in religion is even more crucial than knowledge of rituals, as it enables individuals to deepen their understanding of Islamic teachings. He described self-reflection and personal assessment as essential steps toward spiritual growth, noting that the days of Hajj provide a rare and invaluable opportunity for contemplation, self-improvement, and repentance.
This year, approximately 85,000 Iranian pilgrims will perform Hajj.
Hajj, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, is a fundamental obligation for every able-bodied and financially capable Muslim at least once in their lifetime. It stands as one of the pillars of Islam and represents the largest mass pilgrimage in the world, symbolizing the unity of Muslims and their devotion to Allah.
