AhlulBayt News Agency: Several international airlines have suspended flights to Israeli-occupied territories following a ballistic missile strike from Yemen that hit the perimeter of Ben Gurion International Airport.
According to PressTV, among those canceling flights were Austrian Airlines, Air France, Ryanair, Azerbaijan Airlines, British Airways, and Air Europa. Hungarian carrier Wizz Air announced a 48-hour suspension of its Tel Aviv flights, while Air India, Lufthansa, SWISS, and ITA Airlines halted operations until Tuesday.
One Air India flight bound for Ben Gurion turned back mid-flight, while departing planes remained grounded, and incoming flights were forced to circle rather than land or divert to Cyprus.
Flight disruptions are expected to persist for several days as the situation develops.
The Israeli military reported that eight people were wounded when the missile successfully evaded both the Israeli Arrow and US THAAD anti-missile systems. Following the attack, senior Yemeni official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti stated, “The shelling of Ben Gurion Airport is proof of our ability to strike fortified sites in Israel.”
The Yemeni military described the operation as a retaliatory strike in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen’s Armed Forces, said the attack demonstrated the failure of both American and Israeli defense systems to intercept the missile.
Saree added that more than three million Israeli settlers were forced into shelters and that airport operations were halted for over an hour. He issued a renewed warning to all international airlines, cautioning them against flying to Ben Gurion Airport due to safety risks.
The Yemeni military vowed to continue its operations in defiance of American aggression, reaffirming its commitment to resistance in the region.
