AhlulBayt News Agency: Britain's counter-terrorism police have arrested five men, including four Iranian nationals, on pretext of terrorism offences related to an alleged plot targeting a specific location. The Metropolitan Police announced the arrests on Sunday, stating that the operation took place on Saturday in Swindon, west London, Stockport, Rochdale, and Manchester.
Authorities have not disclosed details of the suspected plot, citing operational reasons. The Embassy of Iran in London has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the arrests.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, stated that the investigation remains in its early stages. "We are exploring various lines of enquiry to establish any potential motivation as well as to identify whether there may be any further risk to the public linked to this matter," he said.
