Indonesia plans Hajj and Hadith museums to boost Islamic scholarship

Indonesia aims to establish Hajj and Hadith museums to enhance Islamic literacy and historical awareness, announced the minister of religious affairs.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Indonesia aims to establish Hajj and Hadith museums to enhance Islamic literacy and historical awareness, announced the minister of religious affairs.

Nasaruddin Umar traveled to Medina, Saudi Arabia, to advocate for the establishment of these museums, taking part in the Hadith Foundation Forum linked to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the VIP lounge of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Banten, early Sunday, the minister underscored the importance of academic collaboration with Saudi Arabia for realizing this initiative.

“We are presenting proposals aimed at building Hajj and Hadith museums in Indonesia and fostering intellectual ties with Saudi Arabia,” Nasaruddin stated in his official remarks on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Indonesia, he highlighted, holds a significant advisory role among seven countries within the foundation, emphasizing that this partnership offers a unique chance to strengthen education, cultural exchange, and Islamic scholarship.

"The critical element here is the trust we have received as part of the King's institution. This establishes a strategic platform for Indonesia's future ties with Saudi Arabia," he explained.

The minister outlined that the museums would act as hubs for education and research, documenting the legacy of hadiths and the historical aspects of the Hajj pilgrimage, while enriching Indonesia's Islamic studies landscape.

During his visit to Medina, Nasaruddin also plans to supervise preparations for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, scheduled to begin next week.
