AhlulBayt News Agency: The Palestinian blind prisoner Majd Ahmed Amarneh continued his hunger strike for the sixth day in a row on Friday.
The hunger striker's brother, Hassan Amarneh, issued a warning about his brother's precarious health situation, saying that he is afflicted with a number of health problems, including stomach and intestine ulceration, high blood pressure, and a tumor in the leg.
As a form of protest against his administrative detention, Amarneh began a hunger strike last Sunday.
Amarneh's wife warned of his serious health deterioration, as he suffers from different health problems in addition to being blind.
His wife also urged international human rights organizations to push for his immediate release due to his precarious health.
Following several arrests, Amarneh spent a total of nine years in custody, the majority of which were spent in administrative detention.
Family sources affirmed that Amarneh declared a hunger strike after Israeli courts approved his administrative detention more than once.
Amarneh, 51, suffers from many health problems and needs adequate medical treatment. He is currently detained in the Negev desert prison, along with his two sons, Ahmed and Mujahid.
According to Palestinian figures, 900 Palestinians are currently being held in administrative detention, including five minors and a woman.
