AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Imam Reza (AS) is known as the learned person of the Prophet’s (pbuh) household, and this knowledge should not be kept in books and narrations only, says Hoj. Ahmad Marvi, chief custodian of Astan Quds Razavi.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the educational projects of the sisters at Imam Reza (AS) University he stated that the scientific and cultural issues are the main focus and policy of AQR activities and they are an extension of thought, knowledge and culture of Imam Reza (AS) in the society.
“We are proud of the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) and providing services to pilgrims, yet we do not consider it our only duty. We believe that in the same way Imam Reza was the source of progress, virtue, insight, enlightenment and awareness during his lifetime; today his holy shrine should manifest likewise for our society,” he said.
“A society that lacks science and knowledge will not get civilized. The Prophet (pbuh) transformed the pre-Islamic ignorant society with the two wings of science and religion into the greatest monotheistic human civilization,” he noted.
According to him, it is no exaggeration to say that the civilization of the world today, is indebted to the Prophet (pbuh) of Islam and the role of Islamic civilization. “Scientific honors of Islamic history and its role in Western scientific advances must be told to the younger generation.”
According to Hoj. Marvi, if AQR intends to give meaning to and deepen the pilgrimage, it must pay attention to the issue of science and the university. “This will show to the current and future generations that in addition to pilgrimage and the expansion of sacred places, scientific and academic centers have been also developed.”
“Building a university, is similar to a portico in the holy shrine, and we believe that both of them will end up to Imam Reza (AS), so we will try our best to gather the best educational facilities and tools in Imam Reza (AS) University. After the holy shrine and the matter of pilgrimage, the second AQR priority is promoting cultural and scientific aspects,” he commented.
Hoj. Marvi further stressed that the scientific dimension alone will not be able to achieve the highest human goals and establish a sublime civilization, adding, “Cultural and educational issues are as important as science. Students who study in universities attributed to Imam Reza (AS), have to be different from those of other universities in terms of science and ethics.”
In the end, he recommended the officials of the university to formulate a clear vision based on pragmatic planning, and addressed the administrators as such.
