As a wave of anti-regime protests was sweeping Egypt, five Palestinian detainees from Hamas somehow managed to arrive in the Gaza Strip on Sunday after they were freed from Egyptian jails.

GAZA (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - As a wave of anti-regime protests was sweeping Egypt, five Palestinian detainees from Hamas somehow managed to arrive in the Gaza Strip on Sunday after they were freed from Egyptian jails.

Spokesman for the prisoners' families Imad Assayed told the reporter of the Palestinian information center (PIC) that four detainees from Hamas arrived in Gaza following the arrival of detainee Hassan Wishah.

Wishah stated following his arrival that many Egyptian detainees in Abu Zaabal jail, northeast of Cairo, were killed by security men, adding that he saw terrible days of suffering and torture during his three-year detention. He was sentenced by Egyptian authorities to 10 years in prison.

Wishah also complained in a press statement to the PIC reporter that Egyptian officers and Abu Zaabal jailers treated him and the other Palestinian prisoners like criminals from the first day of their detention.

He noted that all Arab communities and embassies visited regularly their compatriots imprisoned in this jail, except the Palestinian embassy which did not delegate anyone to see them.

"I could not believe myself as I am in Ashati refugee camp among my family, neighbors and friends after my absence for seven years," Mutasim Quqa, one of the freed detainees, said upon his arrival in Gaza.

Quqa and other eight Palestinian detainees from Hamas and Islamic Jihad were in Abu Zaabal and were able to find their way out of the jail after Egyptian angry protesters attacked the prison and clashed with policemen and jailers.

All these detainees were detained either at Cairo airport or Rafah border crossing for no reason except their affiliation with resistance organizations banned by the Egyptian regime.
