Imam Khamenei made the remarks in the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah on November 1, 2023, ahead of the National Day of Students and the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance which is celebrated annually on November 4.
Pointing to the humiliating blows that the patience and resistance of the people of Gaza have inflicted on the reputation of the fake usurping regime and its Arrogant supporters, he said, "In the absence of the US’s comprehensive support, the Zionist regime will be crippled in a matter of days."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined that the Islamic world must move against Israel by cutting off economic cooperation with the Zionist regime. He added that members of the global Islamic community should fulfill their important duties in this confrontation between the front of truth and the front of falsehood by projecting their voice loudly and insisting on "the immediate cessation of the bombings and crimes that are taking place in Gaza."
Referring to the reliance of the Zionists on US support, Imam Khamenei pointed out that, "If it were not for the support of the United States and its arms support, the corrupt, fake, and fictitious Zionist government would have collapsed that very first week. Thus, the atrocities in Gaza today by the Zionists have in fact been created with the support of and at the hands of the US."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution denounced the Zionist regime for killing 4,000 children in three weeks, describing it as an unprecedented crime in history. Emphasizing the vigilance of the Islamic nation regarding the events in Gaza, which is actually a field of conflict between "truth and falsehood" and "faith and arrogance", he said, “The power of the Arrogant [Powers] is attained via the use of bombs, military pressure, atrocities and crimes, whereas the power of faith will overcome all of these by God’s grace.”
Imam Khamenei elucidated the outcomes of the Gazan people’s patience and resilience, stating that, “Our hearts are bleeding because of the sufferings of the Palestinian people, especially the people of Gaza. However, when you take a closer look at what is taking place, you realize that the winners of this battle are the people of Gaza and Palestine as they have been able to do great things.”
He considered the removal of the false mask of human rights from the faces of the Westerners and their exposé as one of the outcomes of the patience and resilience of the Gazan people and their refusal to give in to the demands of the Zionist regime. “The people of Gaza were able to stir the human conscience with their patience. You can see today that people are coming out in large numbers even in the US and other Western countries to chant slogans against Israel and in many cases against America.”
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution brushed off the words of some Western sources that claimed that Iran had organized the pro-Palestinian rallies in the UK, underlining that these absurd analyses are the result of their incurable disrepute. “I bet the London Basij or the Paris Basij probably organized these rallies!” he said sarcastically.
While pointing to the unmasking of the liars across the world, he emphasized that when Western politicians and the Western media label the Palestinian fighters as terrorists, it is a sign of how truly disgraceful they are. On the same note, he raised the question of who should be labeled as a terrorist. “When a person defends their own home or country, does that make them a terrorist? When the French fought the Germans in Paris in World War II, did that make them terrorists? How come they were considered fighters and a source of pride for France, yet you consider the youth of the [Palestinian Islamic] Jihad and Hamas as terrorists?”
Imam Khamenei explained that the great lesson that the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation taught people was that a small group, with little supplies and provisions, can overcome the enemy with their faith and determination. “This faithful group was able to extinguish and put an end to the fruition of many years of the criminal efforts in a matter of hours.”
He added that the Palestinians have also humiliated the usurping regime and the Arrogant Powers supporting it through the actions they have taken, their courage and their patience.
Referring to the special expectation that he has of the Islamic world against the crimes committed by the occupying regime, the Leader stressed that, “If the Islamic governments do not help Palestine today, they will have strengthened the enemy of Palestine, which is in fact the enemy of Islam and humanity, and this same threat will endanger them tomorrow.”
Imam Khamenei emphasized the necessity
of mobilizing the Islamic world against the Zionist regime. He called on
Islamic governments to insist on the immediate cessation of Israel’s
crimes and bombings in the Gaza Strip. He also urged these governments
to cease economic cooperation with Israel and to block the exportation
of oil and essentials to the Zionist regime.
“Condemn the crimes and atrocities of the usurping regime in all
international assemblies in a clear manner, with no stuttering and with
disambiguation,” he added.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that the blow inflicted on the Zionist regime by the resistance front was “irreparable” and pointed out that the occupying regime’s authorities have also admitted to this.
“The Zionist regime has become desperate and confused. It’s lying to its own people. The Zionist’s expressions of concern about their own captives is also a lie. The bombardments they are carrying out are killing their captives too,” he said.
Imam Khamenei called on the Muslim world to pay attention to the fact that it is not just the Zionist regime that has stood against Islam and the oppressed Palestinian nation, but the US, France, and Britain have done the same. He said Muslims should not disregard this fact in their dealings, calculations and analyses.
Referring to the Holy Qur’an, which states that “God’s promise is undoubtedly true, and do not let those who do not believe in it shake and weaken you with their negativity,” the Leader predicted that by the grace of God, Palestine and its people will emerge victorious in the near future.
Elsewhere during his speech, Imam Khamenei pointed to the three events of the November 4, saying the Americans harmed the Iranian nation twice on the occasion; one on November 4, 1964, when they exiled Imam Khomeini after his uprising against the disgraceful law of capitulation, which granted immunity to Americans from judicial prosecution of any crime in Iran, and another time on November 4, 1978, when the US puppet regime in Iran butchered a number of students in front of the University of Tehran.
“But on the third occasion, meaning the takeover of the American embassy by the students, the Iranian nation dealt a blow to the US and ruined its reputation in the world by revealing the secrets and confidential documents of the embassy,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Leader called on the younger generations not to merely rely on sentiments, but rather, strive to understand and analyze various issues, saying they should acquire a true understanding of various issues and developments during the decades following the Islamic Revolution.
He then went on to examine the main reasons behind the United States’ enmity toward the Iranian nation.
“The Americans and those who naively or with other motives repeat their words saying that the hostility and conspiracies of the US [against Iran] began after the takeover of the embassy of that country, but this claim is completely false.”
Historical facts, the Leader argued, well demonstrate that US enmity toward the Iranian nation began 26 years before the embassy takeover and from the cruel coup d'état of 1953 against the “national government of Dr. Mossadegh.”
He further cited the documents obtained from the American embassy and said they show that the embassy had become a center of conspiracy and espionage, planning coups and civil war, and managing counter-Revolution media outlets since the first days of the victory of the Revolution.
Therefore, Imam Khamenei went on, US enmity toward the Iranian nation has another reason
He mentioned the influence of the British in Iran during the Qajar era, in order to point out the roots of this enmity. “The British wanted to dominate the economic centers and resources of Iran with the colonial model of India, and then take over the political arena and government.”
The Leader of the Revolution cited the agreement to grant full monopoly over the production, sale, and export of tobacco as well as the “Wusuq al-Dawla agreement” as two examples of British efforts to dominate Iran’s economic resources, saying, “These two moves did not reach anywhere with the vigilance of the Ulama (Islamic scholars) and the support of the people. However, the British took control of Iran by installing a very cruel, rude, illiterate, lazy and faithless Kazakh named Reza Khan.”
He added, “And Reza Khan secured their goals by cracking down on the Ulama and terrorizing the nation. In this path, some West-oriented intellectuals or affiliates also participated in his crimes by oil painting his evil government.
The Leader then referred to the British move to replace Reza Khan with his son during the Second World War as well as the decline of British power and the US gradually taking the place of Britain.
“At first, the Americans showed a gentle face by avoiding colonial motives. But when they saw the Mosaddegh government’s efforts to make Iran independent, they put aside the mask of gentleness and with the coup d'état of [August 19, 1953], they practically took control of the country’s destiny and made Iran completely dependent on them.”
Imam Khamenei said the sinister consequences of the US domination over Iran included securing the Zionist regime’s foothold in the country, forming the dreaded SAVAK, sending tens of thousands of advisors to dominate all military affairs of the country at the expense of the Iranian nation, spreading corruption to demoralize the younger generations, preventing the country’s scientific progress, and institutionalizing awful class discriminations.
“By sending General Huyser, the Americans were after staging a coup and massacring the nation even in the peaking days of the Revolution, but the firm resolve of the Imam and the perseverance of the nation thwarted this conspiracy as well, and the American general was forced to return after failing in the massacre of the Iranian nation,” he said.
The Americans, however, are still pursuing the same goal and doing the same thing in Gaza today, he maintained.
Concluding this part of his speech, the Leader of the Revolution emphasized that “Down with the US is not a mere slogan; It is a policy that originated from the conspiracies and endless hostilities of the US against the Iranian nation during the last seven decades.”
Meanwhile, at the beginning of the meeting, three students, namely Mobina Shekarlab, representing the country’s student assembly, Ibadah Ezzat Amin, a Palestinian student studying in Iran, and Borhan Dalilifar, representing student organizations, pointed to some of the issues faced by the country and the developments unfolding in Gaza.
